The family. We are a strange little band of characters trudging through life, sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that binds us all together.

Care Bears and The Dark Side

Overheard between my two younger boys...

M: I used to like Care Bears.

Z: Yeah, and then you turned to the dark side.

Boot Prints

We found a boot print in the fireplace this morning. More proof that the big man still exists. The kids were wonderful even on such little sleep. They were up at 4am, even though we made them wait until 7am to get us out of bed. It was hard to sleep for those three hours, but it's the principle of the matter that counts.

We had a wonderful Christmas together. And it looks like it just might snow.

God Comes Through Again

I never can seem to remember that God will provide. Because of this, I was truly surprised when a check came in today. We thought for sure that we'd have to explain to the kids why Santa hadn't been able to get gifts to us this year. But Christmas is saved!

Of course, that meant that Mommy was out shopping on the day before Christmas...what a nightmare. There were some pretty good deals on Christmas stuff, but not as many choices in the toy department. Lucky for us, Santa usually brings all the cool stuff for Christmas.

Maybe next year the boys will be ready for homemade presents...or not. They sure enjoy opening their packages.
