The family. We are a strange little band of characters trudging through life, sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that binds us all together.

Animal Sightings This School Year 2011-2012

Just for entertainment, the boys and I have been keeping track of the animals that we have seen on the way to and from school this year.  About half way through the year, we decided to add "Dead Robins" to the chart...not because I wanted to, but purely out of scientific interest.  Here is the chart so far:

Coyote               22
Deer                   24 (this included one dead deer that I helped move off the road)
Elk                     35 (this was one big herd, so we guessed on the number)
Badger                 1 (I had NEVER seen a badger before...it was cool)
Porcupine            1 (I had also NEVER seen a porcupine before...it was also cool)
Wolf                    2  (these were actually in our yard)
Heron                  2
Rabbit                  8 (these are jack rabbits with super long ears)
Owl                     1
Dead Robins      43  (these are confirmed car kills, mainly by R - several came out of the grill)

We have out chart on the wall in the form of a bar graph.  Pretty neat, eh?
